P/N 396 Ristocetin
Description
Ristocetin is supplied as stabilized freeze dried Ristocetin. It is used in platelet aggregation studies for confirmation of von Willebrand Disease (vWD) and Bernard-Soulier Syndrome. Ristocetin causes platelets to agglutinate by binding to the vWF and the platelet glycoprotein Ib (GPIb) receptor, and defects in either can be detected using this test. It is for both low-dose and high-dose RIPA testing protocols. Low-dose RIPA testing is particularly sensitive for detecting hyper-responsiveness in patients with type 2B vWD and platelet-type vWD (PT-vWD).
